“Life is like a cocktail, made up for the most part of sweet things, and tinged with a dash of bitters. We must drain it to the dregs to get at the cherry, just as we must live a full and rounded life to know all its pleasures.” - Edgar Guest
Welcome to Cocktail Saturdays! My name's Laura and I live on the Wirral, England.
Cocktail Saturdays is a lifestyle blog that documents my experiences of travel, bars and restaurants, beauty etc... Essentially this site is a selection of the things and places that I would happily recommend to my friends.
Why Cocktail Saturdays?
For myself and my friends, Saturdays have become our time to do the things we love to do. Since turning 30, and having all progressed in our careers, we have more money than we did during our student days, but much less free time. So when we do go out, we prefer to spend that little extra going somewhere special. The focus is on quality rather than quantity, much alike a good cocktail!
Why did I start the blog?
I’m a planner. If you ask me where I’ll be next week, next month and possibly even next year, I will be able to tell you. By day I'm a lawyer so it’s my job to be a stickler for detail and to cover all eventualities. I leave nothing to Lady Luck.
Time is too short, and going places is getting increasingly expensive. We spend hundreds if not thousands of pounds on trips every year, hours of our lives are spent on trains, aeroplanes, in restaurants and hotels… it’s important to choose wisely when we go somewhere.
I honestly believe as little as 2 minutes extra preparation and planning can help prevent an unwanted experience. The old saying 'you get out what you put in' definitely rings true when organising a trip!
I hope that my reviews will act as a guide for you in finding the best places and hidden gems. I'm extremely selective about the brands I feature on my site and will only ever review places or products with which I’ve had positive experiences. If you choose to follow my recommendations, you will hopefully enjoy them as much as I did.
Thank you so much for reading.
